In the most publicized charitable acts, DeVos personally contributed more than $150,000 for the pre-electoral campaign of George W. Bush in 2004. She also hosted a fundraiser at her home in October 2008 for the Republicans that saw former president George W. Bush attend. In many philanthropic roles, she and her family have for years put money in various campaigns supporting the Republicans.
