Extraordinary Philanthropist Betsy Devos

Betsy DeVos comes from a family that has done great philanthropic work over the years. Having been involved in politics from her young days in campus, Elisabeth Prince has since been on her vocational journey for more than 30years by leading various campaigns political action committees and party organizations. Dick DeVos, Betsy husband, is equally involved in the philanthropic and policy work just as much as she is. Betsy has served the people in various capacities including being chairman of the Michigan Republican party. The same can be said be true for her husband Dick DeVos as he was also the Michigan governor as a nominee in the republic.


Betsy together with her husband founded the Wind quest Group in 1989.This privately held multi-company operates groups that invest in manufacturing, clean energy, and technology and this inspiration was due to her quest to create solutions to social problems. She passionately pursues reforms through various philanthropic roles which range widely.


Betsy is a member of many local and national boards including Kids Hope, Bible Church, and the DeVos Institute of Arts Management at the Kennedy Center; she chairs the Dick and Betsy DeVos family foundation. Betsy also serves as the director of the American Federation for Children (AFC) and the Alliance for School Choice. She is best known for being adamant in the leading role of advocating for the educational movement. She currently holds office as the 11th secretary of education in the United States.


In the most publicized charitable acts, DeVos personally contributed more than $150,000 for the pre-electoral campaign of George W. Bush in 2004. She also hosted a fundraiser at her home in October 2008 for the Republicans that saw former president George W. Bush attend. In many philanthropic roles, she and her family have for years put money in various campaigns supporting the Republicans. In the recently held elections, Betsy was on the Front raw of the political, monetary contribution that saw her donate money to Jeb Bush and Carly Fiorina and was in support of Marco Rubio who has for years been a family tradition that the DeVos are more than willing to keep.


Betsy, together with her husband are also board members and chief investors of Neurocare. Neurocare is a group of centers that specialize in brain performance and offer biofeedback therapy for various disorders such as autism, attention deficit disorder, depression, and anxiety. The centers provide treatment that involves the patients watching movies and the therapist helping them focus on the film to retrain their brains. It is evident and indisputable that Betsy acts of kindness and compassion have positively impacted the country and remains legendary.
