In addition to her work with the Houston Public Library Foundation, Franci Neely is also a member of the Texas Historical Commission’s Advisory Council, a trustee for Texas Woman’s University, and a past chairwoman of the board of directors at Memorial Hermann Health System.

She is a businesswoman, philanthropist, and the first female owner in Major League Baseball history.

She owns the Houston Astros with her husband, Jim Crane, who also serves as chairman of the club.

When she was 13 years old, Franci Neely worked as a receptionist at her family’s law firm.

By the time she entered college and graduated from law school, she had become an expert in legal documentation and contracts.

She stayed as a secretary after they moved into their new building; they only later realized what a gem they had found.
